Please note, blanket permission can be YES or NO, and that’s cool. We just need to know.

Orphaned works have been brilliant, too. Thanks to writers who do so instead of deleting!

This is grand, tbh. Because it’s a fic that I really wanted to do (F1).

I’ve also asked them to put a BP on their AO3 profile stating to what extent they are comfortable with Transformative Works (TWs). For instance, some writers might want fanart and fanmixes, but not Foreign Language translations of their works. Right now, even if the author had said no, I would have still asked them to make a note on their AO3 profile in order to save everyone’s time and save everyone coming up from behind the aggro, you know?

Dudes, I don’t even KNOW how you do it.

Today, I just realised that two of my fanfics were translated into Russian, (my BP gives permission; that isn’t a problem), and it’s interesting reading (via google translate, natch) the spirit of the fic. This in terms of what the translator chooses to carry over, and what they chose to leave behind.

Day 14

In your own space, create your own challenge. Whatever your challenge is, and have fun with it! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

For writers, I just want to challenge yourself to put a transformative statement on your work, tbh. Have a think if it's going to be yes, no, or maybe, then make a decision.

My friend is outchere looking for fics in a fandom to podfic. Out of 125 fics on her spreadsheet, none have transformative statements. Come on, writers, we need to do better.

I’d like to recommend the podfic Loose Ends by ItsADrizzit and in the same breath, make the case for fanfic writers to allow a Blanket Permission statement if they are moved to, because the process can be enriching.

On the face of it, I’d feel weird recommending a story I wrote to anyone, but really, after what ItsADrizzit did to and for the story, it isn’t mine anymore, and I’ll freely admit it.

In the podfic, they actually took the words on the screen, and created a world. In their hands (or voice), the fic comes alive in the best ways. The characters exist in terms of being in places, answering phones and bumping into things. They stack crockery, are poured into taxis; they answer phones, take showers, play instruments, and make things.
