Dudes, I don’t even KNOW how you do it.

Today, I just realised that two of my fanfics were translated into Russian, (my BP gives permission; that isn’t a problem), and it’s interesting reading (via google translate, natch) the spirit of the fic. This in terms of what the translator chooses to carry over, and what they chose to leave behind.

The fanfics are really old (Marvel, Stony, Ultimates 1610), and my writing style was a bit different (it was a lot more florid and poetic than it is now). The Russian translations make the feelings deeper and more poignant without exaggeration. It is also interesting the number of exclamation marks used in the stories themselves (I try and avoid them in the narrative, but will use them in dialogue).

I wish I knew enough Russian to even say, thanks guys, this is an honour! But I try not to reach out to people doing BP of my works unless they reach out to me first! I respect the fact that the artists want to work in peace, and not necessarily want the source of their art poking at them, you know?

Something to aspire to in my target language(s), I guess. To translate a story I like, in a language that I also like.

Right now though, I’m teaching myself how to podfic, sooo.
