I'm in football RPF fandom at the minute, and this video shows the reason why I love it so. Football fandom is all about taking the piss out of each other, it's a space where tribalism is encouraged, and where the humour is savagely funny. It's a fandom where 'doing it for the bantz' isn't an option, but de rigeour

Another awesome thing with football is the ability for people from all over the world and varying backgrounds to meet and become friends. Heung Min Son is a South Korean player who played in the German Bundesliga before rocking up to Tottenham Hotspur. Dele Alli is a mixed race lad from a hardscrabble background in Milton Keynes who's a mega-talented young man seemingly at ease in any situation. Good for him.

And allllllso, because if you know me, you know how I like my food. If I can't eat it, I will write about it, and if I can't write about it, I will dream it. So this video filled a need. Also, it's a fandom where the characters lend themselves to awesome AUs.

A lot of football teams in the UK have bumped up their social media account in the last few years. This has gotten them heightened social engagement. With Tottenham Hotspur, it helps that their players are pretty telegenic (sin qua non to being a young player in this day and age, tbh, talent isn't enough) and that they really like each other. This is Eric Dier and Dele Alli playing one of my old school favourite video games.

Seriously Spurs TV is one of the reasons I love this team so much. They really let you connect with the players on a fun level and get to see some insights into how they are as a team. Other teams have their channels, but you don't see this camaraderie and closeness and general having fun that you do with Spurs and Spurs TV.

It really helps that the players like each other, and as a part of the generation with all the social media bits they are just comfortable in front of the camera. I think Man City and Liverpool do give it a good go, but Spurs have Dele (Alli) and Eric Dier and they really have a chemistry on camera that you can't bottle. I laughed cried when Eric Dier rage quit the game in the third video (I KNOW THOSE FEELS, ERIC), and that pairing seized my heart.

Then that stupid day at the arcade video that some boffin spliced from Dele's insta story and posted on YT. Social media accounts (either team or private) they are doing it right.
