Pajiba - Pajiba started off life as a movie review site back in the early naughties when celeb blogs were a thing in the landscape. However, Pajiba set itself apart - by critiquing other blogs as well as movies. Over the years the website has developed into a chronicle of celebrity culture, and the critiquing of it (while still doing movies). If you like Laineygossip and her pointed take on celebrity and her premise that gossip is important, because it's the modern morality tale of who matters, plus the mechanics behind said tales , you'll like this site. It's an expansion of LaineyGossip's critique, but they breach broader than celebrity, as they approach politics and YouTube celebrities in the same vein.

The commentariat are well read, and reasonable to argue with. Also, since a lot of them are poc, as a poc myself, you don't have to deal with a lot of microaggressions like you do on other sites,( Jezebel and The Mary Sue come to mind).

Very Smart Brothers- As a black woman, I've had to hone the art of code switching. As much as I can and do enjoy and appreciate the white blogosphere, their culture isn't mine. Even though VSB aren't necessarily from my culture either (they are Afro American and I'm Afro European), I do appreciate their sensiblities and their outlook which is shades cutting, illuminating, insightful and hilarious. Also, as someone walking around in this world with dark skin, and from the diaspora, living in white socities I really, really can relate to what they're saying most of the time.

From this site came the term Darth Becky. Although VSB hasn't been around long (2010, I think?), Panama Jackson and Damon Young's writings are so pertinent, so dynamic, it feels as if they've been around since forever.

Tom and Lorenzo. If you're into Go Fug Yourself you might like this website. Although their wheelhouse is fashion, they've expanded beyond their remit into touching on topics of cultural interest as well. But that's fashion for you, I think, fashion has always held the narrative about where you come from, what you want to project, but it's since say, 2014, with Scandal that the wider society is pretty au fait with it now. As in, people are aware of stylists, the designers actors and actresses wear, and everyone knows how Zendaya and her stylist used fashion to boost Zendaya's profile in the blogosphere.

I appreciate how informed Tomand Lorenzo are about the fashion they are critiquing. From the sixties twist of Mad Men to the politics of what the Speaker of the American house wears. Clothing isn't just adornment. It's armour, narrative, politics and power.
