One day, I’ll have a podfic that’s something I can do the equivalent of framing a photo and go *insert Will Smith doing the ta dah! gif* but not today. So, because I can’t let things alone, I’m really trying to work on this music thing for Rivals. It’s my own fic, because I’d rather audio ruin mine before touching anyone else’s at the minute.

  • The sound quality is variable. As in, it starts off tinny, and towards the end it sounds deeper and almost muffled. How can I level out the sound quality without using the pitch function?

  • With use of music (honestly, this is about 15-20 seconds of audio, my S/O thinks I’m crazy, but you have to do little steps before you do the big ones), my fades are still too loud, and the rhythm is foxing me at turns. The idea is to have the narrative with the music in the backgroud. That needs a LOT of tweaking.

I do like listening to music tweaks in podfic and think that it can transform the podfic. In (the ONLY) podfic I’ve done I couldn’t not include the song because at the end of the wringer, it sounded odly triumphant. But the more I work on this, the more I think music or any sort of noise effects mightn’t be in my podfic future at all.

It’s pretty much a dog’s dinner at the minute. I can’t even post it in this entry and go have at it, because the quality is dire.

A question on podfic betas, what do they do exactly?

Do they flag your bits in turns of continunity errors, sound glitches and how it rests on the ear? Or do they actually lay their hands on your work? I’m tempted to ask someone I know in sound production to just… sort the sound quality out for me, but I won’t because, it’s footy RPF and he isn’t fannish.

Also, I want to sort this out myself, so if happens again, I know what to do. But the sticking point is that I don’t know what to do at the minute.
