Already, I’m at a crossroads. If I’m going to continue with this podfic malarky, I might have to return to Windows.

Windows hates me, and I’ve never had a Windows PC/laptop last me longer than 13 months, hence me decamping to a MacBook FOUR YEARS AGO and we haven’t had any problems until now.

That being said, getting resources on how to do things with Mac is rather difficult? For instance, with how to make e-books a lot of people seem stuck on Garageband version 2009 (that’s where Mac had the podcast options before taking them out), so all the information I have out there is like… from 2010. Or the latest is 2016.

Referring to 2009.

In 2018.

Bloody buggering wanking hipsters.

In addition, whereas things are free for windows in terms of opensource (for example, Chapter and Verse, where you transform your files from mp3 to .m4a) I have to pay for on Mac (Audiobook builder- it sounds good. If I can’t find a free alternative to Chapter and Verse, I might just pull the trigger).

I’m slowly coming around to having to download Audacity on this machine but… I don’t know if I can trust it (the MacBook, not Audacity) because Audacity is good for post-production editing and better than Garageband at this. In terms of noise reduction, and general file quality. That seems to be the consensus on the forums anyway.

Truth be told, Idek if I’m all for another learning curve at the minute, I’m barely managing with GarageBand so to speak.
