listening to my past podfics
May. 12th, 2018 09:29 amFirst of all, lol, right? Because a month ago, I had none.
It’s really weird, that the best place to podfic is in my caravan, at the side of a lonely road on the moors. Yes, my voice seemingly goes down an octave, but the air is better, and it doesn’t sound so… thin? Like when I’m recording in my room, I sound as if I constantly have nasal issues (I do suffer from sinuses, it’s just so).

- More use of silences - it really makes the piece rest easier on the ear. Also, I tend to edit off the ends of words which is annoying
- When editing, look for where a sentence ends, when the voice falls naturally, it’s easier then.
- Read slower, let the pace of the fic spill out. I’ve been listening to a few audio books for pointers, so to speak, and trying to bite their style for my own.
- So far: 4 podfics. 150 minutes of audio time (2.5 hours), about 450- 500 (8 - 9 hours) minutes of edit time.
