first round of edits
Apr. 28th, 2018 08:07 pmRight, okay. I started off life with 40 mins worth of audio, and now with judicious editing (this is basic stuff), I now have… 13:43
It is late and I need to sleep. I have saved my file and am going to bed. Tomorrow, I’ll try and layer a track 34 seconds in (spurs chant), and try to play around with the ‘Spurs podcast’ part. This will call for extra tracks, so the question is - can I put them in retroactively, or will it be a no from GarageBand, dawg?
- My audio is bad. Basically, I was reading from sheets of paper so you can hear them rustling as I moved from one sheet to the other. That’s highly distracting. Next time, I’ll read from my phone.
- I had to edit out a lot of mouth noises, and my words got tangled up, so I had to edit those out too. I’d say a sentence and if I made a mistake, I’d pause and say it again. Those pauses are expressed as little lines like this ____ which were easy enough to identify and edit. The clapping sound to indicate for mistakes I might use going forward, I might not.
- This audio came from the first Tottenham Hotspur story I wrote. I didn’t finish reading it because I found the rhythm hard going. I really hate my past self though, because certain things that you can do on the page doesn’t come across in speaking (like sly asides in brackets). I know I’ve changed aspects of fic writing A LOT since I am aware that stories might be podficced. It’s been for the best, because my prose is a lot clearer now.
- Garageband is really designed for musicians. They really got rid of the podfic option for protools lite. For instance for voice, there’s a countdown clock, metronome, and various. I’ve had to default to timer, because that’s ALL I WANT. Just to see the time stamps and duration of this fic.
