Right, back on this horse

Trying to do another podfic, but in my own unhurried time instead of say, the breakneck speeds of couple of weeks ago. I’m even podficcing one of my stories (try it on mine before ruining anyone else’s work). Hopefully, my experiences and future tweaks will make the podfics better by doing the following:

• Birds and their chattering register in the background as noise. So, I’m going to try and avoid them all together. They seem to go quiet on Sundays and in the evenings. That will have to be my podfic time.


• I can read for ninety minutes straight if there are no interruptions, and I will just have to edit afterwards instead of editing as I go, because I don’t have the time to stop and edit.


• Try and listen to my own podfic on my phone before posting. I tend to work on a mac, and during the listen throughs, I don’t get the white noise around the work at all. Same thing re: my nano. But when I listen to them on my phone (android, via both mp3 files and a simple .m4b file reader) the white noise comes through in a couple of podfics (not all of them, but enough to make me rejig).

There is one podfic I wish to redo (this F1 podfic). It was my second attempt, around 8k words, and it’s wretched. If it’s going to be the only podfic in F1 fandom (I’m surprised that a fandom like that doesn’t seem to have any? Especially with the various audio elements on play. But then a lot of F1 fanfic aren’t really about the races as much as the activities away from the track). Then, there’s this other podfic I’m podding for myself (the writer hasn’t gotten back in touch, she hasn’t written for years in the fandom, and the fic is under AO3 flock. I’ll pod it for myself, just because I can. It’s my football OTP of OTPs and the story is just stunning).

So yeah, I’m going to try this slow and steady thing and see how it goes.
