So, I’ve been out here reading fic ‘cold’, as in, going in without knowing what to expect.

The thing is, half of the fic in the bookmarks I do have, I’m like, “I know that I liked them when I read them a couple of years ago? But I don’t know now?” But I don’t have time to reread soooo….whoop there it is. I’m also rooting through BP and just reading fic cold.

As a result, I do have to do a few retakes of readings, and on one particularly memorable time, in mid-read, I realised that although the story was objectively well written, I didn’t like it much. But I finished the read, and it’s fine. You get the fun and incredulous vibe the writer was going for, but my coolness towards the subjects shows, I think.

At it stands IRL issues are making me more creative with my truncated podfic time. For instance, I’m up 90 mins earlier in the mornings, to try and get at least an hour in. If I edit, I’ll do it on car trips, begging my SO to drive while I’m editing (I really wish our trains worked and weren’t so expensive! It would be so much better). So far, I’m looking to do a fic in the next two days if there’s enough silence to get it done. It’s 8k words, and I can do a basic recording and basic edits in just over an hour. I wanted to experiment with sounds on this one, but we will see!

There’s a fic I want to podfic in my target language, but it’s under 1k. The way how my life is set up right now, words under 2k is a waste of a session, tbh.
